Obituary for Doris Ayscue Wynne

Doris Ayscue Wynne, 88, of Louisburg died peacefully at 3:45am, Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Transition LifeCare Hospice House with family at her side. She was born on May 4, 1931 to the late Ernest and Ida Edwards Ayscue. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Johnson Wynne which she was married to for 62 years, also her brother Frank Ayscue and two grandchildren Jared Wynne and Kevin Tant. Doris loved being with her seven kids, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Holidays were always special and loud. Everyone trying to over talk each other. At Christmas she would always wrap every present from socks to underwear so everyone would have lots of presents to open. She would fill shoeboxes with fruit, nuts and candy. Doris was the best country cook you could find. Making the best fried chicken, squash, stewed tomatoes, carrot cake, banana pudding, and icebox fruit cake. She couldn’t make the icebox fruit cake to suit everyone, some wanting fruit and others no fruit so she always made two.

She is survived by her children, Danny Ray Wynne of Louisburg, Sheila W. Lewis and husband Mike of Chesapeake, VA, Timothy J. Wynne and wife Rachelle of Louisburg, Kathryn Ketter-Coates and husband Tony of Cary, Michael L. Wynne and wife Cindy of Louisburg, Lisa W. Edwards and husband Harold of Louisburg, Craig Wynne and fiancée Lisa of Louisburg; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00am to 12:45pm at Trinity United Methodist Church where funeral services will follow at 1:00pm with Rev. Chris Fair and Rev. Frank Sossaman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive family and friends at other times at the home of Lisa Edwards.
