Obituary

Obituary for Katie Lou Shearon (House)

Katie Lou House Shearon departed this earthly life into an eternal one with Jesus Christ our Lord on February 9, 2020 after a short illness. Katie was the daughter of the late Nelson and Elsie Foster House. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Shearon, her sisters Audrey House, Emily Swanson and Kim House all of Louisburg, and her brother Stuart House, also of Louisburg.
Katie was a long time member of Knightdale Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees. She worked with the State of North Carolina in several positions during her career until her retirement. Katie’s greatest earthly love was her family and spending time with her friends. Her love of people prompted her to care for those in need, cook meals for others and join with her church family with ministering to others. Her favorite pastime was working in her yard, whether cutting grass or planting something new.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 – 1:45 at Knightdale Baptist Church, 15 Main Street, Knightdale where funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Reverend Trent Sessoms officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.
She is survived by her son, Mark Shearon and wife Sheila, of Spring Hope, and her daughter, Jennifer Shearon, of Zebulon; her grandchildren Hannah Shearon and Benjamin Shearon of Spring Hope, and Brantly Tyson of Mars Hill, and her great-grandson Lane Tyson of Mars Hill. Katie had so many very special friends and extended family that will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I spoke with Ms. Katie a couple of weeks ago. I am truly going to miss her laughs and smiles. Ms. Katie loved her family and friends, church and work, and those memorable out-of-town lunch stops with the ladies. And desserts, how we all loved sampling her homemade desserts. Prayers to the family.

Kate was such a good friend to the firefighters at Station 2 across from her house- she cooked for them and made delicious desserts. I have eaten her peanut butter fudge many times. Condolences to the family.
