Obituary

Obituary for Martha Elizabeth Hunt (Champion)

Martha Elizabeth Champion Hunt, 85, of Louisburg departed this earthly life on Monday, June 22, 2020 at her home. She was born on August 10, 1934 to the late Lonnie Champion and Iva Bell Champion Inscoe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas “J.T.” Hunt; son, Lonnie Hunt and her brothers, W.E. Champion and Thomas Champion. Martha enjoyed quilting, flowers and gardening. She loved to prepare Sunday lunches for her family and was an excellent cook; ham biscuits being her speciality.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at Lancaster Memorial Park with Reverend Cody Padrnos officiating.

She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Hunt (Betsy), Andy Hunt (Don) and Scot Hunt (Marsha); daughter-in-law, Brenda Hunt; grandchildren, Marti Garrett (John), Jamey Hunt (Ashley), Lacey Hunt, Holly Floyd (Jimmy), Kelly Harris (Jonathan) and David Hunt; great grandchildren, Shane Garrett, Foster Floyd, Drake Floyd, Hadley Floyd, Tucker Harris, Mason Harris, Kaylee Hunt and Nate Hunt; great-great grandchild, Kooper Coalley and her sisters, Lucille Page and Grace Perdue.

Some friends are better classified as family and Chris Edwards is absolutely one of those considered family. Even though he wasn’t her son by birth, Chris has been a part of the “Hunt brothers” crew for many years. From helping take the trash out to being the first one to show up when she wrecked her truck. Chris always came when needed. The family would also like to thank Maxine Hopkins for her care and friendship in the final days of Martha’s life. Your love and support has not gone unnoticed and we are grateful.

The family will receive friends at the home at other times.
