Obituary for Mary Iva Jones Kearney (Ray)

Mary Ray Kearney, 79, of Franklinton departed this earthly life on Friday, October 25, 2019. She was born on October 31, 1939 to the late Elbert and Sudie Blackey Ray. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son, Billy Wayne Jones; and sisters, Nana Pleasants, Lorene Allan, Betty Lou Schubert, and Henrietta Hayes.

Mary was passionate and prayerful for her children and grandchildren. She and her soul mate, Vickie Dale Kearney, were married for 45 years. Mary was a member of Popes Chapel Christian Church. When Mary was able, she enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach, sewing, and canning vegetables grown in their garden.

The family will receive friends Tuesday October 29, 2019 from 1:00 to 1:45 pm at Popes Chapel Christian Church, 1237 Pocomoke Rd., Franklinton, NC 27525 where funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm with Reverend Harold Woodlief officiating. Interment will follow in the Kearney Family Cemetery.

In addition to her husband, Dale, Mary is survived by her daughter, Kelly Woodlief (Alex); her son, Herbert Dale Kearney ; seven grandchildren, Timothy Woodlief (Ashlee), Hunter Woodlief, Laurence Kearney, Dallton Kearney, Autumn Kearney, Rodney Jones (Teresa), and Tasha Mangum (Trent); four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Also surviving are Mary’s sisters, Gladys Privette, Joyce Wheeler, Maxine Hodges (Eugene), Charlotte Ray (Chucky), Darlene Ray, and Barbara Jones.
