Obituary for Risa Ann Babeck (Raybon)

Risa Babeck, 55, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 in the comfort of her own home in Wendell, NC after a long battle of breast cancer over the last 2 years of her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Raybon and her brother, Harvey Hall.

Risa was the type of person who left an impact on anyone she met, whether it was her laughter, smile or energy. She lit up any room she walked into and would do anything for anyone. She had a love for kids, she earned a degree in early childhood education and her passion was to teach and tutor children and that was what she did that over the last 10 years. She was an avid bowler and skier whether it was on the mountains of Colorado or Falls Lake. She played a big role in her church family at Calvary’s Cross Baptist, as she loved the piano and her mission trips to Belarus every year where she had more family across the world.

Funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm at Calvary’s Cross Baptist, 1807 NC Hwy 98, Louisburg, NC with Pastor Martin Pinnell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Risa is survived by her mother Ida Raybon, her loving husband of 35 years, Robert Babeck; two children, Christopher and wife Heather and Tabitha Babeck and fiancé, Cody Workowski; grandchildren, Bentley and Braxton Babeck.

Now she can fly high with the Lord and her Tinkerbell wings. Until we meet again, Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Calvary’s Cross Building Fund, 1807 NC Hwy 98, Louisburg, NC 27549, Hearts for Children International. P.O. Box 675, Zebulon, NC 27597, or Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Ida, Rob and kids. Iam so sorry on the loss of Rissa. She will be greatly missed by alot of people including myself. I wish I could be there today to pay my respects but I cant breathe in this heat. I am so thankful I had the chance to work with Rissa putring up the stock at the store. We would talk about everything and especailly her faith. Thank God she kept her faith inside her and in her heart. Iam going to miss running into her at the store I haven't seen her in about 3 years. Im really gonna miss her silly laugh she had the funniest laugh you couldn't help but smile or laugh rifht along with her no matter how sad you were. She had a heart of gold and always would lend a ear if you needed to talk. I loved working for her and Rob and was looking forward to going back to work after my surgery but when things didnt work out I got depressed and one day I got the most loving heart touching beautiful card from her and Rob and the kids but I knew the touching words were from her. I never forgot it and still have the card. I take comfort in knowing she is in heaven with her stepdad and brother Harvey. Harvey loved her so much he used to tell me there wasnt anything he wouldnt do for her and or Rob. He always wanted to be her protector. I know she is no longer in pain and I will see her again one day. So with that being said. Till we meet again watch over your mom and Rob and the kids. Guide them through the rest of the their lives. Especially Rob he will be so lost without the love of his life. Rob if you or Ida need anything please feel free to call me anytime. 919-262-8190. God bless you all and try to keep your heads up and smile and remember Rissa and how much fun she was.

Mari Lapointe we cannot think of your mom without seeing her faceful of SMILES. Risa brought SMILES to others faces, by choice and with delight. Few people have such a work to be known by, in all history....and now, she is Home to shine her SMILES at Our Lord's own Feet. Enviable

Wow— I’m so sorry to know this day has come. I will always remember Risa’s laugh & her kindness. It’s hard to explain how I feel knowing I won’t see her again in this life. She had such a big, bright heart. I feel so grateful that she was in my life, and that I got to know her family. She was truly one of a kind, and I hope one day I am remembered like I’ll remember her. My memories of her are mostly from when I was a child, but even now, I see how authentic she was, and how full of love. I’m so sad to know that she’s not physically with us anymore. I missed the opportunity just to see her & even just wave at her across the street again. But I’m so grateful that she’s affected her family’s life. Her church community’s life. Children she took care of in daycare. Friends in Belarus. She really lived this thing. I’m proud of her. Chris, Tabitha, Robert & Ms. Ida Raybon— we’re thinking of you & praying for you. We love you.
