Obituary

Robert “Bob” Phillips, 57, of Youngsville transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, May 25, 2020 at his home with his family by his side after a long battle with cancer. He was born on October 22, 1962 to Bridget Phillips and the late Stanley Phillips. Bob had a strong work ethic, he was a volunteer firefighter and EMS in Floyd, NY. Upon moving to North Carolina he was employed with Goodyear/Just Tires in Wake Forest as the store manager, where he retired. After retirement, he started with Youngsville Rescue in 2013 as rose to be the Assistant Chief. He also worked with Franklin County EMS. Bob was a people person, never meeting a stranger and always finding the good in everyone. In his spare time he enjoyed Nascar, and his camping trips across the United States with his family. He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00pm at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services, 804 N. Bickett Blvd. Louisburg, NC 27549 with Reverend David Averette officiating.

Bob always had a smile, sometimes a good joke, and a welcoming personality. We've known Bob since high school. We have so many happy memories of laughs with him, it would be hard to find only one or two good ones to share. He had a generous heart and grew into a compassionate man that genuinely cared for all. He will be missed by so many. To Nicole and Andrew, our deepest sympathies to you and your families. RIP Bob

Bob was one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. He would always ask if somebody else needed something even if he was the one who needed something more. Bob never had a negative word to say about anyone no matter how they treated him or us on a call. No matter how busy he was at a station he always looked forward to the next call and never complained. If half the population cared for people they know as much as Bob cared for people he didn't know this World would be an amazing place. I would always know if Bob was working or had come by a station I was at. The lights would be off and the inside doors would all be closed. I used to laugh about it then but will miss it now. This World was given an incredible gift to have Bob in it. I am fortunate to have known him, been his partner and call him my friend.

What a wonderful man he was. I remember on Thanksgiving when he came to our home my dad needed assistance. Daddy was 90 at that time. Bob was so attentive to my dad and I appreciated that so much. His care for my granson was sweet as my granson a few months old enjoyed his lap for a long time. Bob was gentle. He was so good to my sister in law Anne and our nieces. He gave us peace of mind knowing he was there for them.He will be missed. We ate Christmas Eve dinner with them last year and his hug was very unique I felt. I thought of it as a longer hug than normal. Maybe his health concerns concerned him more than he said. I am sorry he had to say goodbye so young. Gods assignment for him will be glorious. Love Kathy
